TUEgether, students, staff, faculty, alumni, family and friends of UC Merced raised over $700,000 in one day – exceeding the original fundraising goal by more than $200,000. For the third consecutive year, UC Merced took part in the global day of giving known as #GivingTuesday, on November 29, 2016.
With over 800 gifts, and a 3:1 match for fellowships and scholarships provided by Wells Fargo and Foster Poultry Farms, this year’s campaign more than doubled the $316,000 raised in 2015. Over $680,000, including match funds, was raised for 14 featured funds and more than $34,000 in additional contributions were made to other areas around campus – totaling over “$700K in a Day!”.
Giving Tuesday UC Merced kicked off at midnight with the first official gift made by Chancellor Dorothy Leland. For the next 24 hours, UC Merced garnered more than 800 gifts, with a number of donors giving multiple gifts to multiple funds throughout the day.
